You are invited to join with your church family in celebrating Maundy Thursday. Maundy Thursday is a service which focuses on reconciliation between us and God and one with another. God's love for us expressed through the New Covenant in Christ's blood is accompanied by a New Commandment given by Jesus in John 13:34, "Love one another, even as I have loved you."
This service will include the reading of scripture, prayer and Communion. The Covenant Church regards Communion as a Sacrament which is to be administered by the church for the edification and building up of the Body of Christ. Sacraments are intended to be taken in fellowship with the community of believers. We believe that by the power of the Holy Spirit Jesus Christ is uniquely present in the Sacraments. It is a participation with Christ through physical, tangible means in which we may remember the grace of God and participate, together, in celebrating new life in Jesus Chirst.
We will be participating together virtually. While isolated physically we are joined together by the Holy Spirit. The elements (bread, juice or wine) may be prepared from your own resources. If participating in Communion in this fashion is in conflict with your conscience, please do not feel any obligation to do so. You may still wish to join us virtually for prayer and the hearing of Scripture. It is my sincere desire that this homebound Communion experience will serve to draw you closer to our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ.
Shalom, Chris Pappenfus
