Time : This is a part-time position of approximately 25 hours per week. Evening and weekend hours may be required.

 

Reports to: Pastor and Building & Grounds Commission

 

Primary Purpose: The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for all employees, congregation, and visitors to the Church. Ensure the Church facilities are clean and ready for all activities whether scheduled or unscheduled.

 

Employment Responsibilities: Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the church. The position does not require that they be a member of the Church, however, it is expected that all employees respect First Covenant Church’s religious practices.

 

Responsibilities: Be present when and where needed, ready to work as needed to meet responsibilities. Complete all duties in a timely and accurate manner and be punctual. 

• Is a good communicator and get along well with others

• Must be able to deal with any concerns or complaints that come their way.

•  Performs cleaning and minor maintenance tasks for facility and grounds.

• Taking inventory of cleaners and other supplies and submitting requests when items need to be replenished.

• Creating reports on maintenance, repairs, safety, and other occurrences for supervisor.

• Responsible for set-up and take down of tables and chairs for events.

• Understanding of cleaning techniques.

• Flexibility to adjust their schedule to suit the needs of the church.

• Motivation to work independently or with others to provide efficient services.

• Lock and unlock building doors when needed.

• Remove all garbage and recyclables and dispose of it properly.

• Work with volunteers to maintain church grounds and landscaping.

• Maintain and clean all floors in building on a regular basis. This includes vacuuming and shampooing carpets and regular cleaning of all floors.

• Dusting of surfaces of the church.

• Cleaning of all restrooms and kitchen facilities.

• Coordinate maintenance and repairs that require outside repair companies.

Qualifications: 3 years’ experience performing similar duties is preferred.

Fluency in the English language. Additional asset would be able to speak Spanish.

Successful criminal background check

Possession of valid drivers license with proper vehicle insurance.

 

Physical demands:

• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry up and down stairs.

• Ability to work all hours needed to meet job requirements.

• Ability to kneel, crawl, climb ladders to make minor repairs.

Job Type: Part Time 25 hours a week. Note: Need to live within 15 miles of the church.
