In the book of 1 Kings, we read about the prophet Elijah and how God used him to reveal God’s unparalleled lordship. In response, the political powers turn on Elijah and threaten his life. Elijah was expecting a revival; instead, he was met with rejection. This leaves Elijah emotionally, spiritually, and physically exhausted and earnestly questioning why he should continue in his prophetic calling. In this desperate and vulnerable state, Elijah turns to the Lord and sets out on a journey, intending to give God a piece of his mind. Over the next two Sundays, Pastor Chris will be exploring reflections from his recent Sabbatical and how Elijah’s story can serve as a valuable invitation for you to encounter the Lord in solitude and silence.
